Rolex 24: Haywood named Grand Marshal

The veteran road racer Hurley Haywood has been named Grand Marshal of 26-27 in the Rolex Replica 24 at Daytona, Daytona International Speedway announced Wednesday.

Haywood, who won a record five Daytona 24S during his long career, have a weekend, wearing two hats.

"I'll be very busy," said Haywood.

Apart from the great duties of marshals, Haywood Brumos Racing president, vice and will oversee the No. 59 Porsche team for the title game of the GT class.

"Hurley Haywood is the most successful driver in the history of sports car Speedway," said Joie Chitwood III President Daytona. "We hope that in honor of his career for the next Rolex 24 at Daytona and heard the command output for the most prestigious event in the American sports car."

To celebrate his career Haywood, a couple of cars drove during his legendary career Rolex 24 will appear in the Replica Rolex 24 Heritage Exhibition inside the Sprint Fanzone weekend race.

With a record 40 races, Haywood, who lives near Jacksonville, debuted Rolex 24 Starting from the late Peter Gregg in 1971.
